Job Title – Job Title: Healthcare Assistant (Surgery Support)
Location: Edinburgh, Haymarket
Hours: 40 hours per week
Salary: £25,400 per annum
About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Healthcare Assistant to join their surgical clinic in Edinburgh. This role may involve travel to support other surgery clinics. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary surgical team, supporting pre- and post-operative care, patient flow, and theatre duties in Laser Vision Correction (LVC) and Intraocular Lens (IOL) theatres.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake all designated theatre roles following training and competency assessments
- Conduct pre-operative testing and assist with consent appointments, providing patient information
- Support patient discharge, updating medical records and scheduling follow-ups
- Prepare, calibrate, and safely operate surgical lasers and equipment
- Manage patient flow, reduce waiting times, and respond to queries
- Assist surgeons during procedures as a scrub assistant and support IOL theatre duties
- Participate in end-of-day activities including filing, report compilation, cleaning, and stock management
- Report incidents and contribute to patient safety, quality, and risk management
